Interview with Universe-Wide Receiver Daniel Adler

Like in 2011: In 2011 Universe-Quarterback Ian Mitchell brought his fellow students, the Center Andrew Ciukurescu, from Dickinson College to Germany to become a "Man in Purple"; now, in 2013, the new Quarterback Chasen Stangel brings a teammate from Northern Arizona College to Frankfurt: the Wide Receiver Daniel Adler, who is intended to reinforce the purple "Luftwaffe".

The 23-year-old Adler now gave the answers to questions for an interview.

When, where and why did you start playing football?
I first played football when I was eight years old. I played for the Pleasant Hill Rebels in Pleasant Hill because my older brother David played and I wanted to give it a try. My first love was basketball... Later I played for College Park High School in Pleasant Hill as Runningback, Cornerback, Receiver and Returner. In College - Diablo Valley JC and Northern Arizona University – I have been a Receiver and Returner.

What do you think have been your greatest achievements?
Receiving a full scholarship to a division 1 school was really cool…

Do you already have future plans?
As a player? Hopefully winning a championship with Universe and to get my teammates better. I enjoy helping teammates by competing very hard to reach potentials we never thought we could.

Why did you choose Frankfurt Universe?
I like what the city of Frankfurt has to offer and Coach Rosenberg seemed like a great fit for me with what he wants to do on offense.

How have you been recruited? Did Head Coach John Rosenberg talk to you personally?
Coach Rosenberg contacted Chasen at first, and then Chasen recommended myself for the receiver position open. The Coach liked my skill set and thought I would be a great fit and that is how it all started.

On which positions will you play in Frankfurt?
I will be playing Receiver and returning kicks for Universe as I did in college. And wherever the coaching staff wants me… I will be there. I consider myself an all-around player that can even tackle. I had about six tackles on kick-off team in college at NAU.

Which goals do you want to achieve in Frankfurt?
My goals are to be the most competitive player on the field, I want my teammates to understand that I am all about winning the game and doing whatever necessary to do so, even if that means blocking a 250 pound linebacker to free the Runningback for a first down. I want the Frankfurt fans to be excited about their team because the energy we play with and the effort we are willing to give to win on every down.

Have you ever been to Europe before?
No, but I am so excited to see it! I have seen many pictures of different cities in Europe but to experience it first hand will truly be a dream come true. I am anxious to talk to people, eat the food, breathe the air, and just experience a whole different culture. I definitly want to travel a little bit and see the surrounding countries as well, I have a huge appetite so I am probably most excited about the food. Although this will be an awesome cultural experience, I know I am truly there to represent Frankfurt Universe on the field and will not get distracted by temptations. My goal is to only travel on off time we have but to stay focused during the season.

When will you arrive in Frankfurt?
I will be in Germany on Saturday, the 30th.

Is there anything you want to tell the Universe-growd?
I would like to tell the Frankfurt Universe family that I am so excited you have chosen me to play for your team and I will show you the same loyalty throughout my six month stay this season. Now let’s win a championship!
